Announcements!

First Scout Meeting and Trip/Campout 9/8-9/10

  • The first Scout Meeting on Tuesday, September 5th

  • The first trip is scheduled for September 8-10th

    • Water weekend at the Anderson's in Vermont

    • Please know if you will be able to come on the trip by the first meeting

  • Trip details:

    • Traveling up Friday night

    • Getting dinner on the way up

    • Camping out if possible, bring tents sleeping pads and bags

    • Indoor beds and facilities available for all parents

    • Parents are welcome, those with water sports experience especially

    • Bring bathing suits and towels, sun screen, personal life jackets if they have them

  • Activities will include:

    • Swimming

    • Sailing

    • Kayaking

    • Canoeing

    • Row boat rowing

    • Rowing Shell Rowing

    • Motor boating (large and small)

    • Water skiing

    • Wake boarding

    • Wake surfing

    • Knee Boarding

    • Tubing 

    • Making Pizza in an outdoor wood fired pizza oven ​

  • There will be many opportunities to get many of the above merit badges!!!​​

SUMMER CAMP PACKING LIST  

 

The list below is recommended for those scouts attending Summer Camp. If you have any questions please discuss them with your troop leadership.

  • It is recommended to pack for each day a set of T-shirt, socks, under wear in a small plastic zip lock bag to protect it from humidity/rain and also to keep neatness up in the tents. Also bring plastic bag for laundry.

 

  • Prior to coming to camp, scouts are encouraged to clearly mark all personal items with their name and troop number.

 

  • No opened toe shoe, flip flops etc. are allowed in camp with the exception of the showers. But also not for the walk to or from the showers

 

  • Friday is Theme day ➔ Superheroes, so bring something to be part of the Theme, be a superhero.

 

  • For Scouts Participating in the Swimming or Lifesaving MB, you need to bring long pants and a long sleeved shirt (no cotton)!!!

  • Scouts doing the Blacksmith & Welding MB, you need to bring long pants and a long sleeved shirt (in cotton)!!!!

  • Scout trying to do the COPE Challenge need to bring long pants, belt and long sleeved shirt.

  • Scout participating in the morning “Polar Bear Swim” should bring additional swim suit and towel.

 

Your Scout Handbook is also a good source for additional information on what to pack.

  • Blacksmith Weekend

    • Scouts progressed on cooking requirements

    • Scouts had lessons on metalworking basics

    • Everyone made forks

  • Patrols met and discussed winter sports weekend

  • Progressed in the organization and creation of new patrols

  • Winter Sports Weekend

    • Anderson's Vermont house

    • Frozen Lake and a variety of winter sports will be available

      • Intense curling

    • Ski lessons at the Mt. Pico

    • $25 - child $36 - adult (lift tickets)

    • Food will be payed for

    • Bring money or bagged lunch for when at mountain

  • Low attendance (snow storm)

  • At Saint Mary's instead of WMS

  • Completed patrol assignment survey for scouts

  • For future meetings:

    • Improve starting time (arrive before 7PM)

    • Increase productivity

  • Planned Emergency Preparedness activities for future meetings

  • Integrating Emergency Preparedness material into blacksmith shop
